White Shirt - Chanel / Karl Lagerfeld inspired
I bought this shirt a few years back from H&M but my strong dislike for ironing has left it hanging in the wardrobe for awhile. Anyway this look is inspired by the androgyny of Karl Lagerfeld and his collections for Chanel. The jacket - Marks and Spencer - was a birthday present and is also Chanelesque. If only it were real...

Sonia Rykiel for H&M
Not strictly new information as this launched a few weeks ago but I just bought myself the set on the right and I love it so much I had to write. The bra is so totally vintage looking that I'm just dying to wear it with a top that reveals it ; ) Sonia Rykiel is one of my favourite designers but I can't even afford the diffusion line Sonia so I'm hoping the H&M collaboration is a massive success and leads to some actual clothes!

Grey Gardens

My friend has been telling me for years to watch Grey Gardens so when I spotted it on TV last night I thought I would give it a go. I'm not sure which aspect is more noteworthy - the fact that the film is incredible or that it is a iconic film for Fashionistas. I guess I watched it for the clothes but the film itself bowled me over. Based on a real life documentary about a mother and daughter who become reclusive in a decaying house the wonderful acting from Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange really brought this story to life. Their story brings one to question other peoples perceptions of mental illness - to the outside world they were stark raving but to the documentary makers who came into their world the two women were so much more than this and despite their living conditions, perfectly sane. Truly amazing film, the original documentary is also being shown this week which I just have to watch.
But back to fashion! The outfits - oh the outfits. If I ever get rich enough I will collect an archive of memorabilia from the film and wear every outfit. From old Hollywood film star glamour before it all seemed to go wrong for the women to the 'objects found' look of the later days, both sides brought their own charm.
